The Snapchat 3-month Fitness Challenge

Accountability is the key

Nearly two years ago I joined an accountability club on Snapchat. I don’t know any of the people involved in this group but have bonded with some of them through social media. Trainer Chad Williams leads the group which includes motivation snaps and updates from those participating. A green check for ‘coach’ means we’ve accomplished our goal for the day.

Run, run, run

The group has been another tool in helping me maintain my running streak, which as of today is at 722 consecutive days of running at least one mile. Since November, I’ve also added some weight training to my routine. However, my eating and sleeping habits still suck, which is having a great impact on me.

Chad (follow him on social media @anthrochad)  is starting a 90 days challenge at his gym in Mexico. He’s extended to the offer to those of us in the Snapchat group. The rules are simple, just start with a before pic and measurements and track your progress. Also, lend support to others on the same journey. I know my family is going to cringe at me posting my pics, but this time I really truly think I’m going to notice a difference once the work is done.

I’ve started and stopped more times than I can count. I know some will read this and roll their eyes throughout. I also expect some snarky Snapchats and Facebook comments. I got a supportive message from Chad this morning after I posted about a desk covered in cookies, brownies and cupcakes mere inches from my desk at work. “Your motivation is high and it sets you up for success moving forward.”

The time for me talking about it has ended. Action begins now. We’ll compare and contrast on July 23.

Stats as of April 23
Weight: 202.4
Waist: 41 inches
Left bicep: 15 inches
Right bicep: 14.5 inches
