Mrs. My 1-2-3 Cents
I’ve written before about my wife Lisa, specifically in this post about our 20 year wedding anniversary last summer. However, I feel the need to shine the light on Lisa again after my most recent pro wrestling binge. I actually did a podcast interview with my wife a few years ago. You can listen here.
When we started dating in 1992, I kept my pro wrestling fandom hid pretty well. I still remember the first time I let Lisa get a glimpse of it was later that year. We had returned to college and SummerSlam 92 was happening. I complained about not being able to watch the show and I didn’t know how soon I’d get to see it on VHS. A couple months later I convinced her to go to a WWF house show that featured the likes of Bret Hart, “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Razor Ramon. Despite the larger than life personalities, Lisa never caught the wrestling bug. But she supported my fandom, joining me in a couple other house show and TV taping excursions.
As some of you know from my other brand, My 1-2-3 Cents, I am a professional wrestling ring announcer for a company called Stride Pro Wrestling. The gig started off as a once a month commitment. But Stride has found a great deal of success over the last two years and more shows (all fundraisers) are being booked.
The first half of April saw me tied up with wrestling commitments every weekend. On April 6th it was IWA Productions. The 7th & 14th it was for Stride Pro Wrestling. Add in WrestleMania on April 8th and I suspect my wife is ‘wrestled-out’. But wait, there’s more. This weekend I head to Cape Girardeau for Cape Comic Con and Cape Championship Wrestling. Add in my daily blogging (I’m on a nearly two-year streak with that), my weekly podcasts and my freelance blogging business and I’m a busy guy.
Don’t get me wrong though, I am not complaining. I am honored and excited to be living my dream. I know many people who would love this opportunity. But I love my wife and kids too. I typically balance things pretty well, but April has been the exception. I just wanted to take a moment to express my love and appreciation to my family for their support.
I'm a former TV news guy turned marketing manager. I like to blog, podcast and watch pro wrestling.
