Tweak the streak

Change is good

On May 26, 2016, I embarked on a blogging streak. It was a post on my wrestling-branded page, My 1-2-3 Cents. So with this blog, I’ve posted a new one 854 consecutive days. I’ve bounced between the My 1-2-3 Cents page and the Kevin Hunsblogger website. However, I am tweaking the rules on my self-imposed streak.

For those who don’t know, I work full-time as a TV news anchor. I get up at 1:25 a.m. every day and co-anchor the morning news. About a month ago, I started working part-time at Idea Creative Marketing in Carbondale working on several accounts with content creation. I’m still freelancing too, most frequently at Harness Digital Marketing. Add in my own branding practices and the work I do with Stride Pro Wrestling and my days are pretty hectic. Oh, and I have a wife and three kids that sometimes like to have me around.

I don’t say all that to brag or complain. It’s the set up to the changes I’m going to start making. Instead of a ‘blogging streak’, I’ve decided to keep moving forward each day with a ‘content creation streak.’ So on Mondays for example, it’ll likely just be the My 1-2-3 Cents podcast and not a blog that day. Some days I may just create a quick YouTube or Facebook Live video.

With the extra work I’m doing, I’m picking up a lot of new knowledge. I know not everyone consumes what’s posted on social media the same. Blogs aren’t for everyone and that’s fine. I’ve even talked before that I don’t READ a whole lot of blogs myself. I prefer podcasts and videos. Varying content has the potential to reach more people. As the world of social media, digital marketing and technology continue to evolve, so will Kevin Hunsblogger. The name will stay the same, but the mission has broadened.
